Question
In IBS-3, how to prevent Windows\Temp from filling up?
Answer
In
Windows 7 there is a possibility that the Windows\Temp directory is getting
filled with files of each approximately 189 kB, several times per day.
This is
caused by Windows itself.
With
every update request or action, a CBS log is created of added to the folder
Windows\Logs\CBS. This can continue until a total of 2 Gb.
After that Windows
tries to zip the log file in order to save disk space. However, Windows
cannot handle archive files of 2 Gb, this means that there always remain some
files in the TEMP folder.
Solution
1. Log in as a servadmin
2. Delete the contents of the Windows\Temp folder, if allowed
3. Go to Services
4. Find Windows Modules Installer and stop this program
5. Go to Windows\Logs\CBS
6. Delete all files except CBS.log
7. Restart Windows Modules Installer
8. Log out
9. Check after a few hours whether the Windows\Temp folder has been filled up
